Yesterday we took Daphne to the beach for the first time. There is really only one dog-friendly beach on the Suncoast, Brohard Beach and Paws Park in Venice. She had a blast playing with the other dogs, staying out of the cold Gulf waters, and running around so fast it looked like there could have been 11 of her on the beach.
Holly got a little wet trying to coax Daphne into the water, but a strong breeze quickly dried her off. Daphne was not about to go into those mammoth waves (at least compared to her size) willingly
She did make some new friends, including a 130 lb dog named Kenzie, who was not afraid to give Daphne chase, or scold her for playing rough with the smaller dogs.
We had a great time taking Daphne, and even got a pretty nice family photo, thanks to Adam’s sister Erin. It was nice to take our new DSLR camera, a Nikon D5100, out for a spin. It really could keep up with Daphne better than we could.
She even got a little bath to get all the sand and salt water out of her freshly groomed coat (might be booking another appointment when we get home…), and we had a gorgeous sunset in a perfectly clear Florida sky.
Happy almost Christmas!
