I’m sure you can all imagine just how busy we’ve been the last two weeks since we closed on our new house! We have been cleaning in every spare moment to get it ready to move in.
Our wonderful new neighbors dropped off a beautiful pot of flowers and have been indulging Daphne, having her over to play all the time. Really we couldn’t have gotten any luckier.
Since we’ve moved in, we’ve taken up all the carpet in the house, including the 1970s brown floral shag that was everywhere. I am much happier to look at my beautiful hardwood floors – even though I have yet to get them clean. That will take some elbow grease, let me tell you.
Daphne has been a trooper. She is slowly getting used to the house and was very intent on sitting in my lap while I pulled up carpet staples. Also, rain boots are a perfect house cleaning accessory. I’ve been living in them. Look for a post on must-haves coming soon.
We’ve gotten all the walls in the living/dining room and hallway washed with TSP and ready to prime. They are beautiful plaster in great condition, so hopefully they’ll shine up prettier than a new penny with some thick odor/stain blocking primer and a gorgeous smokey paint.
And we finally got the carpet up in the very last room, and found a collection of X’s designed into the tile underneath. Perhaps there’s treasure buried in our new house?
So there’s a quick update on our progress. If you would like to come visit, we’ll be open for guests in June! Hope to post again soon, though the WiFi doesn’t move to the house until Friday and then we are moving on Sunday!
