Bench Press

This weekend, Adam and I have time on our calendar to sort out a few things. We need to make a schedule for during the week, setting aside concrete time every day to go to the gym, meet up with friends, and take care of the house. We also need to spend some time organizing. Ok, a LOT of time organizing.

While we lived in Colorado Springs, we had this great bench that sat at the end of our bed. It was a catch-all for extra pillows, blankets, jackets, mail, scarves, you name it. It’s one of the pieces I miss, though we don’t have room for one in our current set up.

A few months ago, I posted on this tufted and lucite beauty:

I would love to have a piece like this for our future master suite. So feminine and comfy at the same time. Just have to find a bit of a masculine piece to balance it out. Then I saw this:

Rusaka Tufted Wood Bench, Apartment 34, Jen Darling

How fun are these wooden benches by Rusaka? Definitely easier to clean, which has become a top priority with Daphne and Sherlock roughhousing all over the place. Wouldn’t it look just darling by the front or back door?

Really what I need is a bench full of storage. I wouldn’t mind making this DIY trunk option from Martha Stewart, adding a fluffy bench top to make it even more inconspicuous. We inherited a collection of travel trunks from the 1960s with our home which would be fun organizers, but not really the best for adding a seat top. I’ll be on the lookout for something that will.

How cool would those tufted wood benches be with storage too! What do you think?

How about one of those old style wooden trunks?
That would look really cool, and if you wanted, you could put all sorts of storage compartments inside. πŸ™‚
