Happy 1st Birthday Daphne!

Good morning y’all! Taking a quick break from our regularly scheduled trip down home ownership lane to bring you Daphne’s first birthday! Our little fur ball turned one year old yesterday!

Alright, I will admit, it’s a fine line between treating your dog like a child and like a dog. First, because we’ve never had a dog. And second, because Adam literally looked at me over puppy bonbons and said,

I know I’m going to want to spoil our kids. Hopefully I get most of that out of my system with her [Daphne] so that I’m not so bad later on.

Yup, you heard it here.

Luckily we had unknowingly scheduled a trip to the groomer on her birthday, so she got home feeling happier and cooler with her summer hair cut! Plus she had on the cutest bow and the stuff they use smells yummy. What? I like things that smell clean!

For her birthday, Daphne got an unstuffed frog with speakers on both ends. In the last 12 hours she has already eaten off several chunks of Senor Frog and chewed out one of the squeakers. Pup works fast.

Adam also picked up a peanut butter bonbon and a birthday biscuit from Daisy’s Delights, a local pet shop in Ridley Park that has a bakery (barkery) where you can order dog cakes. They also offer grooming, pet sitting, etc. They also offer services for cats, if anyone is interested. Bonus: it’s right around the corner from my office. Cakes have to be ordered a day in advance, so we still have to try those. And by we, I mean Daphne.

She knew something was up and couldn’t wait to get her paws on her treats.

That was gone quick! After her bonbon, we broke out the Happy Birthday biscuit.

It took her a while to get the hang of it, so we finally just broke it in half. She had fun crunching it up after that!

Hopefully next year we can have a BBQ (and use her birthday as an excuse to grill out and drink beer) and invite over her puppy friends. Since we brought her home last August, she’s definitely changed our lives. We’re looking forward to many more happy years together! Happy birthday Daphne!
