I will be the first to admit, in the last few years my holiday planning has taken a back seat. With all our moving around, coming in and out of the country, getting married, changing jobs, etc, holidays just fall through the cracks.
Yet somehow for the Fourth of July we always manage to pull something together. For a few years we were going back home to DC to watch the fireworks from the Rosslyn bridge and grill out with our friends. Then in Colorado we went to the Air Force Academy for the most moving and patriotic day we could have experienced. And last year we managed to get a mini grill up and running and a few games of corn hole in before watching some local fireworks.
This year is going to be just as low-key. We’re hanging out with friends at our old apartment complex, grilling, trying whatever holiday concoctions everyone creates, and letting Daphne play with the dogs she knows. And while we might not be out on the water or at a glitzy party, there is definitely going to be an opportunity for some Patriotic pride. Here are a few of my favorite options that have been coming across my dash the last few days:
Seriously, that Kate Spade Saturday dress is amazing. I really just want to get my hands on it. There are also a ton of other cute options in the Painted Plaid print. It’s so refreshing to see Old Navy go in a more modern direction for their yearly 4th of July line. These seahorse shorts at J.Crew are a nice nautical twist to add with a pop of red, and I would love to try on these TOMS x Jonathan Adler shades. Sunnies can be tricky unless you can see how they actually fit your face, but this classic shape is bound to flatter just about everyone.
