Write like the Wind

On an episode of Pawn Stars last night, Adam and I learned that it takes an average of 400-500 hours to write a novel. Works of fiction are considered successful if they sell a mere 5,000 copies. Some novelists get lucky and sell millions, some don’t ever get published at all.

As the Game of Thrones premiere is creeping up on us, a co-worker sent me this video mocking the series creator George R. R. Martin for getting along in years and taking nearly 30 years to write the books. While I hope the novel I’m currently writing will at least give a few people some entertainment, I know that at least I would have Adam to light a fire under me if I ever spent 30 years on one series.

Are there authors that you wish would write a bit faster?
