Tubing on the Brandywine

This weekend, we took off on an adventure. We had heard that there were places you could go tubing on the Brandywine River for free (BYOTube), so we grabbed some friends, some drinks, and spent a lovely 3 hours in the wilderness.

Adam’s high school friends Kate and Hardy popped up from DC for the weekend to see our new casa and enjoy a break in the sweltering heat of summer. We were super pumped to have perfect tubing weather – and the river all to ourselves. There are dozens of places you can hop in and out, so we didn’t have to share the water with anyone else.

It took us awhile to get all the tubes blown up, so Kathryn and I dropped off my car at the end point so we wouldn’t have to walk the 3.5 miles back to where we started. The tubes we brought came complete with cup holders and back rests, a definite must-have for ultimate river comfort.

And we may not have gotten a photo of it, but Adam and I shared one of these:

This Intex River Run II Lounge Tube comes complete with a cooler built-in. It was pretty awesome. Next time, we’ll go a little earlier in the day. Our 4pm start time meant that by the time we were finished we were all getting chilly. We’ll also bring a waterproof camera. There were some great moments that I guess will just have to stay on the river!

What did you do this weekend?
