Staying at an ice hotel is one of the things on my bucket list. These hotels are few,far between, and each room is unique and brand new each season. Plus with their remote locations, these hotels have amazing winter activities including bobsled rides and views of the Northern Lights in your room.
In an alpine village in Sweden, the ICEHOTEL is by far the most famous. With its fantastical art suites designed by artists from all over the world, the ICEHOTEL will take you inside a storybook, up in space, and through the corners of geometry. As a guest in the hotel’s cold accommodations you’ll sleep in a “thermal sleeping bag on a bed built by ice blocks, a wooden frame, mattress and it is topped with reindeer skins.” The temperature inside the hotel never drops below -5 to -8ºC, despite external temperatures falling to a crisp -30ºC. Then wake each morning with hot lingonberry juice.
If a trip to Sweden isn’t in the cards for you this winter, as it’s not for us just yet, the Hotel de Glace in Quebec is equally beautiful. It even has a chapel for a perfect winter wedding.
Have you ever stayed in an ice hotel? Is it on your bucket list?
