Evolution

This blog has gone through quick a few changes over the last few years. It started as a travel blog while I backpacked in New Zealand. Then I came home and didn’t have anything exciting going on because I became a bit of a workaholic (not by choice).

We went to China, where I was busy wedding planning and trying to find food that my stomach could handle. Plus the archaic state of the Internet behind the Great Firewall of China made doing anything online frustrating.

Coming home from China we moved to Colorado and went into full wedding mode (Oh yeah, our wedding was in South Carolina!). Six months to sort everything out, hope my dress came in on time, and make lots of decisions, some of which were extremely last minute. I didn’t want to share too much before the big day, so I wrote about the things I could when I could. Me + altitude = sick Jen. I had horrible allergy problems plus several minor illnesses, combined with lots of stress meant not so much writing.

Just after we got married I started writing for TheCelebrityCafe.com, and that kept me pretty busy. Outside of work and skiing, I was writing for them almost daily, taking up any extra time or energy I’d have to blog. So I let myself off the hook aside from a few big things. I only wish I had written more about my journey learning to ski.

Fast forward another six months and we’d moved again, this time to Philadelphia. We’re hoping to put down some roots and hang out here for a while. Summer came and until we got Daphne I didn’t have my motivation. Then, she gave me something to start writing about, and I got back in full swing. And in the mean time, I’ve gone through several jobs and we bought our first house.

So now we have Jen Darling, the blog of a writer. A twenty-something living in a 5-year home renovation, using fashion and travel to escape the chaos and try to create a style for my whole life, not just the way I dress. I’d love to hear from you about how you are living your life pretty!

Hi Jen! Since you discovered me on Twitter I thought I’d discover you–HAVE A WEBSITE and a very nice one, I might add. I’m enjoying your blogs, travel interests, and hearing about raising your puppy Daphne! I’m a writer, dog lover and AXO-that’s three things in common, thus far! 🙂 Keep up the writing, puppy training and traveling! Glad you’re on the mend.
    All the best,
    Ruth

    Hi Jen.
Just peeked your blog after seeing your AXO post. Although we are very different, I felt there were some common vibes that drew me to writing. I am a 55 year old AXO that after many years of peace have now found myself “searching” and recognizing new joys. (I feel the word searching coming through your words.) After the death of my husband I have relocated half way across the country immersing myself in a new life looking for a new beginning. I enjoyed your blog and will continue to follow it for inspiration and smiles.
